Our site is designed to educate about baby monitors so that parents
can stay aware of their children's activities from another room.
Baby monitors are useful tools for families with babies and small children.
A baby monitor can be placed in a room that a baby is in while a receiver
can be placed in another room or carried around with the parent. Every
mother instantly recognizes the cry of their own child.
There are several types of baby monitors from which to choose. When
you are shopping for baby monitors you should first think about how
you will be using the product. For example, if you don't need to go
from room to room a lot, or are only going to use the monitor at night,
a plug-in model is sufficient. However, if you want to be able to move
about freely, a monitor with a portable parent unit that clips onto
your belt or waistband would be a better choice.
There are also models that have fully portable battery powered parent
and baby units, so both units can be used anywhere in your home or even
outside.
A portable mains/battery powered parent unit allows you to move about
freely. This is useful if you get work done while your baby is napping.
A portable monitor allows you to go from the nursery to the laundry
room, home office and kitchen and never have to really leave your baby
unattended! A fully portable monitor has mains/battery powered baby
and parent units which can both be used anywhere.
All monitors have two or more channels for good sound reception and
adjustable volume control. Most also have a light which comes on when
there are baby sounds so you can turn the volume down when you want
to. Others have a light to tell you the batteries are low. Those that
have a night light on the baby unit give a comforting glow in the dark
and let you check on your baby without turning on another light. Some
of the latest models will also transmit the temperature of your baby's
room to your unit and there is one which can even monitor your baby's
breathing rhythms.
A great addition to the family of baby monitors is the screen monitor.
With the latest baby monitors you can now look in on your baby as well
as listen in via a special TV monitor or your normal TV screen. This
allows parents, siblings and grandparents the joy of watching the baby
in her most private moments.
Baby monitors can also be useful if you want to watch how your babysitter
interacts with your baby. You can set up a monitor or Web camera and
observe from a remote location whether or not the babysitter is responsible
and caring. This will insure your child is getting the attention that
she deserves.
